Monaghan United Crest.
Four new players featured for Monaghan United in a friendly against Premier Division side Dundalk FC and are according to our sources expected to sign for the First Division side after playing for them in the pre-season game the other day. Those four players are likes of striker Andrew Haran, Goalkeeper Aaron Shanahan, Shane Fitzgerald and Ryan Brennan. All of whom are expected to sign in the near future.

Player Profiles:

Andrew Haran in action for Former Team Pats.
Andrew Haran: Former St.Patrick's Athletic striker has been on the move once again and this time it is from Athlone to front runners Monaghan United and is expected to sign on the dotted line in the coming days. He started off at Pats at the young age of 17 he broke into the A team in the A Championship He then went on to make his senior debut for Pats in a cup game against UCD on April 21st 2008. He then emerged on loan at First Division side Monaghan United who he is recently playing for! Haran's  first goal for St.Patrick's Athletic came in 20th of April 2009 in a 2-1 win over Drogheda United. Then after having falling out of favour with then manager Jeff Kenna he was left out for most of the season, but with Pete Mahon's reign began he was back in the first team in no time. Shortly then he was loaned out to First Division side Shels and spend a season with them making just the one appearance after he dislocated his shoulder. Then, in the summer transfer window of 2011 he left Pats to sign for First Division side Athlone town, and has recently left them and has been playing for Monaghan and has been signed up.

Aaron Shanahan
Aaron Shanahan: Another ex-Pats player here once again and has recently set up shop in Monaghan.Aaron has played for the likes of St.Patrick's Athletic, Dundalk, Kilkenney, Athlone Town and most recently Longford Town. He started off his career like Haran at St.Pats but failed to make a single First team appearance and felt time was right to move on and then he signed for Kilkenney City in 2005 transfer market but didn't play for these either according to our sources he had a bad start to his now fully shaped footballing career, but Dundalk was different he found himself in the net 5 times for the Premier Division side. But, he made one more appearance for Athlone Town than he did during his time at Dundalk. And then most recently he signed for Longford Town rivals of course of Athlone Town and during his time with the First Division club he made a whopping 27 appearances including one against the Champions of the Premier Division Shamrock Rovers in a cup game. But, now he will be hoping to get first team action as he signs is expected to sign for Monaghan United.

Ryan Brennan in Drogs Strip

Ryan Brennan: Ryan spent 2010 with First Division side Drogheda United where he made 30 league appearances for the club who finished rock bottom of the Premier Division and were relegated, Ryan played under four separate managers that year and as the money troubles went to far Ryan found a way out and recently signed for Monaghan United for the 2011 First Division Season. If you want to find out more about midfielder Ryan Brennan you can through a interview and the following link : http://www.droghedaunited.ie/community/interview/ryan_brennan.php . Sorry about our lack of information for such a well known player, who is of course the younger brother of Killian Brennan.

Shane Fitzgerald in UCD Strip
Shane Fitzgerald: Former Bohs player here folks! Shane started his career for Bohemians FC and played most of his games for the under 21s at Dalymount Park but broke into the senior squad for a sub late on in the game against Longford Town on the 6th of August 2005. He was then released by Bohs at the end of the 2006 season and then went on to join Dublin based club UCD and turned out 24 times for them scoring just the two goals. He then furthered his career by signing for Galway United and played 9 matches for them and failing to score in any of them games, then times changed and he re-joined UCD and played only 6 games on his return but wanted  a new challenge and signed for First Division club Athlone Town and only played twice before departing them and now has signed for another First Division side this time its Monaghan United!
