"Both Entertaining and Satisfying" Steven Trimble's Column

Drogheda United goalkeeper Steven Trimble gives his views on the goings on at the Louth club as well as the League of Ireland in his brand new column for "The League of Ireland Interview Show" Blog.

As Irish internationals both in soccer and rugby took centre-stage we travelled to Galway for what should have been a crunch relegation game!!

As it turned out we were safe and Galway were in the dreaded play-off! We needed to put in a performance for our travelling fans after being comfortably beaten by both Sligo and Shamrock Rovers. And that we did! A great performance with a man down to win 2-1! The second goal a dubious Own-Goal which Davey "Scouse" Rogers was still claiming as his 3rd of the season as we got on the coach! However to Davey’s dismay it did go down as a Sean Kelly Own-Goal!! So just the 2 goals for "scouse" as of yet!

Let’s just say the long bus journey home was both entertaining and satisfying!

This being my first full season in the League of Ireland it’s hard to compare this season to anything else I’ve ever done! The one thing that has hit me most is the pride of the fans that travel to every corner of the country just to watch you play. To realize what the club and league means to all those fans is nothing short of amazing!

Nobody wants to be in the relegation battle for most of the season including me. However it’s given me all the chances and opportunities I needed and I wouldn’t change a thing, it’s been entertaining from start to finish! Bray are up next on Friday and hopefully another series of back-to-back wins is on the cards for us and a chance to continue to finish the season on a high!
